Recently, Irfan Pathan made remarks about MS Dhoni that have reignited discussions surrounding a hookah controversy linked to the cricket star. An old video of Pathan resurfaced on social media, prompting renewed conversations about Dhoni's alleged hookah parties, which quickly turned into memes. Back in 2020, during an interview, Pathan had sarcastically commented that Dhoni was not the type of player who would prepare hookah for someone in their room. Following Pathan's comments, Yograj Singh, the father of Yuvraj Singh, has also taken aim at Dhoni.
Yograj Singh's Critique of Dhoni and Other Cricket Legends
Yograj Singh's recent statements came after the viral clip of Irfan Pathan's earlier interview. Pathan had expressed his disbelief at being dropped from the team despite taking five wickets in his last ODI. He mentioned that he does not engage in unnecessary conversations or prepare hookah for others, emphasizing that a cricketer's focus should be on performance on the field.
Allegations Against Dhoni and Other Captains
In his critique, Yograj Singh not only targeted Dhoni but also included Kapil Dev and the late Bishan Singh Bedi in his comments. He stated, 'I can talk about those I have been with, including Bedi, Kapil, and Dhoni. They treated people poorly, which is unacceptable. Two wrongs do not make a right, and I openly say that our captains have ruined our team and our cricketers.'
Broader Criticism of Dhoni's Leadership
Yograj Singh pointed out that Irfan Pathan is not the only one questioning Dhoni's leadership. Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, and Harbhajan Singh have also raised concerns about their treatment during Dhoni's captaincy. He mentioned to Inside Sport, 'This is not just about Irfan Pathan. You have seen what Gautam Gambhir has said. Virender Sehwag has also spoken out about it. Harbhajan Singh mentioned how he was treated like a fly and pushed out of the team. An investigation should be conducted into why this happened. Dhoni seems unwilling to respond, and someone who avoids answering likely has a guilty conscience.'
